Prof. Horner Bible Reading System Bookmarks in German!

Prof. Horner Bible Reading System Bookmarks in German!

I have used Professor Horner's Bible Reading System off and on  since last year and can say without a doubt it is the very best Bible reading system I have done. This Bible reading system has the Bible reader going through 10 different chapters from 10 different Bible books each day. Here is an Example Day 1 Matthew 1 Genesis 1 Romans 1 First Thessalonians 1 Job 1 Psalms 1 Proverbs 1 Joshua 1 Isaiah 1 Acts 1 Then the next day the Bible reader goes onto the next chapter for each bookmark.  Once a book is completed then the reader goes onto the next book on the bookmark. It's...

Church Camp in Gemünden, Germany

Church Camp in Gemünden, Germany

I had a wonderful experience at my very first German camp in Gemünden, Germany. Gemünden is pretty close to Frankfurt. Susan Bratcher, works at our sister church in Hildesheim, and we were the cooks for the whole week. It was a kid's camp with kids ages 10-15.  We had about 40 people total with a little over half of that being the kids. I spent most of my time in the kitchen cooking. I really thought that by the time I would be home I would miss Dave (because he did not come) and I wouldn't want to cook anymore. Well, I did really miss Dave. This was the first time that we had been separate...

World’s Best Bible Reading System

World’s Best Bible Reading System

Imagine if you could find time to read the Bible.  You are probably thinking, "Yeah right!  Maybe if I lived in a post-apocalyptic world and my name was Eli.  If there was nobody around then I would have time to read the Bible." I actually think we have more than enough time to read God's Word.  How much time do we waste on tv, Facebook, Twitter, video games, reading books that don't amount to squat? Let me introduce to you a Bible reading system that I believe actually works and once you get started you almost can't help but form a good habit. Right now I am using Professor Horner’s...

Simple Communion Message

A while back I posted a Short Communion Message.  What could be easier than delivering short message?  Well a Simple Communion Message of course. Matthew 26:26-28 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body." Then he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you.  This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. (TNIV) Matthäus 26:26-28 Während sie aßen, nahm Jesus Brot, sprach das Dankgebet,...

Social Get Togethers (LST 2010)

Social Get Togethers (LST 2010)

Part of our LST project includes organizing Social Get Togethers with all of our Readers. I organized two, and Craig Rapp organized the other two. We had lots of fun. Some of the things we did included: playing Taboo, Apples to Apples, Job Guessing, Who am I?, Pictionary, and water balloon games. These were four fun-filled Thursdays. We always met on Thursdays at 7PM so everyone would not forget the special occasion. We had several readers come. And I believe two nights had over 20 participants. Here are some pictures.

The Rapps Joining the Knapps

The Rapps Joining the Knapps

Well,  it is long overdue to update and tell everybody what we have been doing for the past month.  David and I enjoyed 3 busy weeks at the end of May and beginning of June reading with our LST Readers.  We already mentioned that we had about 40 sign up with us.   So we were very busy.  On top of that, we visited a school in Peine (Burgschule) and talked to 9th graders practicing their English. In between, Randy and Katy have had several grill parties.  At these grill parties the Smelsers invite their English classes from the Volkshochschule (Adult Education Center).  So we enjoy an evening...

Short Communion Message

In addition to this short communion message, I have provided a simple communion message. Luke 22:19-20 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”  And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood. When we eat the bread we remember Jesus' life and death. In Jesus' life He: Was merciful to people. He loved people. He cared for people that nobody else cared for. He served people. In...
