Max and Daddy Taking Timeout for the Camera

I knew I shouldn't have taken any pictures with Max! Every time I do he always looks better by comparison. ;-)   Max at 17 months

Introducing the Let’s Start Talking Team for 2014

The Cook Family:  Matt, Dana, Darby (14), Quinn (12) and Ainsley (6) are from Canadian, Texas.  Canadian is a small, rural community in the northern part of the state where cowboys on horseback are still common.  Matt is a minister and Dana is a secretary.  Their 3 children are students busy with school and sports. In 2011, Matt and Dana visited Peine and loved the people and their city.  Through their connection with people there, they welcomed Lena Kühne, a Peine high school student, into their family while she attended school at Canadian High School in 2012-2013.  The Cooks are very...

Max is Now a Walker with Crawling Habits

I can type pretty fast.  I had two typing classes in high school and no, I wasn't required to take the same class twice. :-) One thing I always remember the teacher saying was to not look at our hands.  Most of us continued to look at our hands anyway.  That was why I got so fast.  It was easier than trying to type without looking at my hands.  Recently I discovered that I can type pretty quit without looking.  After years and years of typing I guess I memorized where the keys were at. Max Playing in the Snow for the First Time

Despite smiling in some of these pictures, Max did not enjoy his first time playing in the snow. Oh well, maybe next year. I believe these photos were taken back in December (2013).  I don't recall getting a lot of snow like we did in 2012 when Amanda's parents came to visit.  So far we are having a really nice spring.  It seems winter is gone.

How We Celebrated St. Patrick’s Day 2014

We are a little rusty on the story of St. Patrick, so we went ahead and told Max about the story of Noah because it includes a rainbow. St. Patrick's day was celebrated with brightly colored food.  Amanda is, of course, the master mind behind this idea.  Max enjoyed everything... it was food after all. Max didn't get pinched because he was wearing green.  I got pinched  on the lips several times by Max.  He didn't care if I was wearing green because apparently my lips scream out to him, "PINCH ME!" :-(

Scriptures for Communion Meditations

Isaiah 53:3-6 He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid...

Max Lost His Pants But Doesn’t Seem to Mind

It began as some innocent crawling around the apartment but what began as innocent ended up in embarrassment cuteness.  Max told me all the cool kids are doing this.
