Max’s First Bath

Max’s First Bath

So Max was only wiped off on Thursday when he was born.  He was starting to smell pretty stinky, and you could still see leftover yuck on top of his head.  So we were glad to give him his first bath on Friday. The nurse started bathing him to show us how it was done.  Then Mom took over and tried her very best.  I wasn't so sure about holding him down into the water, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would have been. After I had finished bathing him, the nurse showed us how to dry him off.  Then Daddy got to dress him.

Who wants to hold Max?  I think the answer to that is "Everyone!"  Here is Amanda, me and our friends holding little Max.

Maximus Allen Knapp

Maximus Allen Knapp

At 5am I  woke up for a bit and Amanda told me her water broke.  We did what any expecting parents would do... we went back to sleep. :-) Sometime between 8am and 9am Amanda started to experience pain.  We went to the hospital a little after 12.  From the time her water broke until Max came out it only took 9 1/2 hours! At 2:38pm Maximus Allen Knapp was born! He weighs 3.3 kilos or 7.28 pounds and is 48 cm or 18.90 inches long. I am really proud of Amanda.  She had Max without the assistance of pain medication like she determined.  Right now Amanda and Max are at the hospital...

Marienburg Castle

Marienburg Castle

There are at least 2 nice things about Let's Start Talking.  First, we get to meet wonderful people, and second those wonderful people want to take us to wonderful places here in Germany. It only took me one year to put up these images of our trip to the Marienburg Castle.  On that same day, we went to the Kürbisfest in Eldagsen.  I was able to finish that post on our furlough to America.

My Baby Shower

My Baby Shower

On October 14, 2012, Katy Smelser threw me my first baby shower.  It was a blast!  There was lots of great cakes to eat.  Susan Bratcher and Alyssa Murphy had a lot of fun games for us to play. One game everyone had to blow up a balloon and stuff it under their shirt so that they were now pregnant then we had to put a coin in between our knees and waddle to the jar to drop our coin in the jar (representing pregnant women always having to waddle to the bathroom). Oh, and the team I was on won!  We also test tasted baby food - which was absolutely disgusting.  Wow, how do babies eat that...

Moving in 2012

Moving in 2012

The apartment we were living in didn't have a room for a baby, plus the house is for sale.  So to make sure we have a place to live, a place for the baby, and peace of mind that we have a home ready before the baby comes - We MOVED!  We moved from Peine to Stederdorf, which is closer to the church where we work.  We moved on September 29, 2012, my Mom's Birthday. Well, it was a bit too busy for pictures on moving day.  I just never got around to it.  But here are some pictures of us moving into our new apartment.  These are of our kitchen.  Remember kitchens in Germany do not normally...
