Late Summer Ride by German Cornfields

Late Summer Ride by German Cornfields

[This is part of the Odds and Ends 2010 series.  Go check out the other posts!] Last summer sometime we took a ride north-east of town and found Iowa.  Well, maybe it was just the cornfields that reminded us of Iowa.  We both look completely pale in the photos.  This is probably due to the lack of sunlight in Germany.

Odds and Ends 2010 Series

Amanda and I arrived in Peine, Germany, May 2010.  Needless to say our heads were spinning with trying to settle in.  We were able to take a ton of photos along the way.  But I never had time to put them on our site to share with you. I wasn't sure how I was going to share these photos with you.  I thought maybe you wouldn't want to see photos from a year ago but why wouldn't you?  The photos are still new for you and since this is the case I have decided to share them in the Odds and Ends 2010 series. This will be the landing page for all 6 posts.  Check back here for more photos: Late...

Homemade Cake Decorating

My parents have given me cake decorating supplies for years as gifts for Christmas or Birthdays.  Well, I have finally been able to use them. On Saturday one can go listen to Scottish music and on Sunday one can see the Highland Games.  We unfortunately only went on Saturday. The Kilt - Skirt Controversy Is it called a skirt or is it called a kilt?  Let's take a look, shall we? Kilt translated into German is Schottenrock.  Schotten means Scottish and rock means skirt!  So it is a Scottish skirt. The video is not of great quality because we only took our camera...

Church Camp in Gemünden, Germany

Church Camp in Gemünden, Germany

I had a wonderful experience at my very first German camp in Gemünden, Germany. Gemünden is pretty close to Frankfurt. Susan Bratcher, works at our sister church in Hildesheim, and we were the cooks for the whole week. It was a kid's camp with kids ages 10-15.  We had about 40 people total with a little over half of that being the kids. I spent most of my time in the kitchen cooking. I really thought that by the time I would be home I would miss Dave (because he did not come) and I wouldn't want to cook anymore. Well, I did really miss Dave. This was the first time that we had been separate...
